Queer Theatre: How to tell a Story and Build Dialogue

16:00 – 17:30, Marsha

Four panleists who are in Belgrade as part of the Heartefact Pride Theatre Festival, explore the impact of contemporary queer arts and position of queer artists across Europe and beyond through different perspectives and experiences. The differing and volatile status of queer rights in many European countries demands that we take a comparative approach, especially analysing the challenging situations in Eastern European countries. While we debate and share different experiences of theatre arts as a platform for LGBTQI identities as well as an agency for democracy we will be concentrating on questions of freedom of expression, human rights, the representation of desire and love, censorship and repression, and the intersection of culture and the politics of emancipation.
